ARTIST SPOTLIGHT | Katie Belle | “People Pleaser”

I for one am so glad that we are past the stage where rappers and hip-hop artists had to pretend like they were tough guys (and girls) and can finally just express themselves as genuine artists. Dax has always been a pioneer in this regard, and this is just one of the reasons why I am such a fan. Real people have real feelings #facts.

What’s more, it is also super refreshing to have a hip-hop artist with a core message of positivity for once, instead of all the degrading and materialistic nonsense we have been subjected to for generations now. Dax is another trailblazer in this regard, and as soon as you listen to pretty much any of his songs, you will notice this right away.

And ‘God, Can You Hear Me?’ is no different. If anything, Dax has gone above and beyond with the powerful and inspirational stylings he’s known for, and I absolutely love it! These are dark times we’re all currently facing, but when listening to this song I felt both comforted and empowered, that not only is everyone going through the same battles I am, but that they ‘can’ be overcome with faith and perseverance, and that falling victim to them and giving in is never the answer.

There’re not many songs these days that have some really potent and memorable lyrics, but ‘God, Can You Hear Me?’ has these in spades. My hair stood up on end in numerous parts, and I wanted to pause the song several times and write down the words I was hearing. Dax can’t be given enough credit as far as his spiritual poetry skills are concerned.

As for the rest of the song, the piano does an incredible job of enhancing the weight of the song’s message, and the quality of the music video strengthens the song’s message tenfold. When the beat fades in and out, it does so masterfully. As someone who also makes music as a hobby, I could plainly see that as much effort went into the composition of the song as the lyrics themselves.

For anyone going through personal struggles or just looking for a powerful song to vibe to, ‘God, Can You Hear Me?’ is definitely worth a listen. I can’t recommend it enough.
