Feature | How You Feel

As a massive fan of music of all different kinds, I am always excited at the prospect of listening to something new and unique. So, when I heard about Elisa V’s style-blending approach of mixing classical violin with new-skool EDM beats, I knew I was in for something a bit extraordinary.

And ‘How You Feel’ did NOT disappoint. Before I get deeper into my review, I want to say right away that I was shocked at how well the violin lends itself to dance music. Most dance songs typically feature some kind of synth or keyboard melody, but after listening to the song I could soon see some savvy music producers start to use the violin as the driving force for dance music in the coming years.

I will definitely keep my ears open for more classical tones to start to creep their way back into modern modalities of music. Music as a whole would benefit from it, in my opinion. Anyway, back to the review. Even though the violin is the backbone of Elisa V’s music, ‘How Do You Feel’ opens with awesomely airy vocals and an arpeggio that acts kind of like a countdown.

When the clap of the drum kicked in shortly after, I found myself tapping my feet in an automatic response, which is a universal sign that I was feeling the track so far. Then, it happened! After an emblematic fade-in, the violin makes its emphatic appearance and completely takes over the show.

Its haunting sound and winding rapture really make the song stand out when compared to any other standard dance song of this ilk. As well as the excellent implementation of violin, the overall production value is top-notch. As a hobbyist music producer myself, I am always incredibly impressed by how crisp and professional independent artists can make music sound today.

‘How You Feel’ is most certainly worthy of being added to my fall playlist, and that is exactly where it is going to stay for the foreseeable future. My hope for Elisa V’s music moving forward is that she incorporates even more aspects of the grandeur and epic set pieces that makes classical music so great.
