Feature | Love Me Knots

Th0rn’s latest single is short and bittersweet. With lingering vocals that long for reciprocal love, Love Me Knots packs an emotional wallop in a track that’s less than two minutes long. This is one of several singles the indie artist from Chicago has released in 2025. In the space of only a few years, th0rn has become known for their velvety voice and vulnerable lyrics that are clearly reflected in Love Me Knots.

Aboard a floaty pop track, th0rn invites us to take a closer look at the emotional rollercoaster of one lamenting inconsistencies they are experiencing in a relationship. The melody effectively combines major and minor chords that weave in and out of each other, upbeat one moment and melancholy the next. Th0rn’s voice adds to the ebbs and flows with soft reflections of being wanted and then tossed aside. Their sound isn’t aggressive or angry, but there is an edge to it. It speaks to a once gentle tone that has been sharpened by repetitive wounds.

I like how the lyrics evoke visuals of uncertainty, such as “in my arms picking daisies” followed later by “you love me in the summer, but now you love me not.” These words bring to mind the wistful “he loves me, he loves me not” premonitions bestowed on discarded flower petals until nothing but the stem remains. I appreciate the parallel to how love can be stripped bare when doubt takes over, effectively killing a lovely thing that had the potential to continue blooming.

In all, I found Love Me Knots to be a captivating reflection of the harsh reality we all end up facing in the world of love; not every relationship is forever and not every love can withstand the trials that come in time.
