ARTIST SPOTLIGHT | C’Batch | “Next time”

Stephen H. Cumberbatch (aka C’batch) is truly an artist of many talents. In addition to playing multiple instruments, composing, and producing tracks, Stephen is one half of the visionary duo that makes up the publishing company Stevette Music Inc. It is no wonder that such a musically intelligent individual could take his already delightful single, Next Time (I Won’t Be Falling), and remake it into something that is somehow even more catchy with his latest release Next Time (I Won’t Be Falling/You’ve Got Me Falling). This remix is fresh, smooth, and guaranteed to get stuck in your head.

I listened to the original version several times, as well as the remix, and I found that I enjoyed both in their own right. The remix has more instrumental and production elements that encourage listeners to find the nearest dance floor. I really love the rich vocals and harmonious layers throughout the track. Each piece of the production contributes to the overall hopeful tone of the song and the message of losing love and finding it again. It’s the type of song that I would enjoy reflectively listening to on my own and also singing at the top of my lungs while dancing at a party. Creating the type of sound that encourages both of these types of listening experiences is an impressive feat.

Fans of Stephen’s work will be pleased to know that he is currently working on releasing a series of collections of his music through Stevette Music Inc. These collections will be a reflection of his extensive musical career and remember the impact that his songs and collaborations with other artists have had on house, garage, and rave music since the 1980’s. I look forward to hearing more of the legacy Stephen continues to create.
